JULIUS OSMUNDSON

Julius Osmundson was the son Cleng and Caroline Osmundson, and was born on a farm near Creston, Ill., May 8, 1871, and passed away April 6, 1946 at the age of 74 years, 10 months and 28 days.

He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith, and since his conversion he had been diligent and steadfast in that faith.

In the fall of 1884 he came to Iowa and settled on a farm 4 miles south of Radcliffe with his father and three sisters up until the time of his marriage to Lena Swenson February 29, 1892. Several years later the couple moved to their farm three miles south of Radcliffe.

To Mr. and Mrs. Osmundson, 10 children, seven boys and three girls were born, all of whom are living around this community. They are: Clarence, Sadie (Mrs. Peter Johnson,) Arnie, Kernel, Amos, Jesse, Oscar, Gladys (Mrs. Ward Tjelmeland,) Agnes (Mrs. Ross Auestad) and Lenard.

In 1933 he and his wife moved to Radcliffe where they resided at the time of his death.

Mr. and Mrs. Osmundson were richly blessed throughout their married life, and just four years ago were privileged to observe their golden wedding anniversary. Mr. Osmundson will always be remembered as a kind and faithful father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters and 2 brothers; also three grandchildren. He leaves to mourn his departure, his wife and children, 41 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, numerous other relatives and a host of friends.

The funeral services were held last week Tuesday with devotional services in the home at 1:15. Randall Hatteberg sang a Norwegian song "Skal vi motes hist ved floden." Rev. H. N. Bakke read the ritual for the occasion.

The services at Zion church, of which Mr. Osmundaon was a charter member, were in charge of his pastor the Rev. Bakke, with Cora Mae Bakke at the piano. Mrs. F. V. Beran and Mrs. Otto Fosse sang two duets: "Good Morning Up There" and "Some Day the Silver Cord Will Break." Mr. Hatteberg spoke a few words and sang "My Savior First of All." The sermon had for its text, 4 Cor. 15:10, "By the Grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me hath no been in vain." The pastor's topic was "By Grace."

There was a very large number present. The flowers were beautiful and the gifts to missions numerous.

The pallbearers were six of his seven sons, namely Arnie, Kernel, Amos, Jesse, Oscar and Lenard. The remains were lid to rest in the Zion cemetery, six mile south of Radcliffe.

Mrs. Fred Lee, Mrs. Clarence Pearson and Mrs. Sadie Pickett had charge of the flowers. The Zion ladies aid served a lunch in the church parlors to about two hundred people after the interment.
