Ida Child, 77, died Sunday in Mercy Hospital at Cedar Rapids following a short illness.

Born Dec. 29, 1910, at Davey, Neb., she married Robert Child at Cedar Rapids. He died in 1977. For many years, Mrs. Child worked for Souvenir Lead and Pencil Co. at Cedar Rapids and had retired from Nevada Produce Co. at Nevada, Iowa.

Survivors include a son, Tom Hartz of Ely; a brother, Charles Hinchliffe of Cedar Rapids; two grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday, Turner Chapel West, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Roland Hischke of Trinity Lutheran Church. Burial: Ames Municipal Cemetery, Ames. Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to service time Wednesday in the chapel. The casket will be closed prior to the service and not reopened. A memorial fund has been established.
