OBITUARY OF ED MAHONEY

Former Slater Boy Laid To Rest at Cheyenne, Wyoming--Was 53 Years Old.

James Edward Mahoney, who passed recently away at Cheyenne, Wyoming, was born at Slater, Iowa, on April 18, 1873. He grew to manhood and received his education in the schools of this vicinity. On April 18, 1894, he was united in marriage to Olive Hall of Cambridge, Iowa. Shortly after their marriage to Olive Hall of Cambridge, Iowa. Shortly after their marriage they located on a farm near Sheldahl, Iowa, where they resided till 1902. Two children were born to them during their residence near Sheldahl, Oliver J. and Avis Leona. Spending five years on a farm in Minnesota, they disposed of their effects and moved west, taking up a homestead near Pine Bluffs, Wyoming, where they engaged in farming and stock raising for a period of years.

In the fall of 1921 they left the homestead, going to Cheyenne, where Mr. Mahoney became affiliated with the Union Pacific Railway company, in whose employment he continued till death called him on Monday, October 4, 1926, at the age of 53 years.

The funeral services were held from his late home and the M. E. church at Cheyenne, the services being in charge of the Rev. Guy F. Conkel. The Modern Woodmen of America lodge, with which he affiliated early in life, officiated at the grave.

He left to mourn his death his life companion, Olive Mahoney, a son, Abner J., a daughter, Avis, and ----- -- ------------- sister, two brothers and host of relatives and friends.
