Mary Frances Percy, 89, of Elkhart, died Oct. 8, 2005, in Cambridge.
Mary was born Feb. 8, 1916, to Francis J. and Margaret E. (Acheson) Boyd in Jefferson Township, Adair County. She received her education from Greenfield High School. She married Wilbur Percy on Feb. 3, 1940, in Casey. Mary was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Elkhart, Elkhart Garden Club, Elkhart Women's Club, Elkhart Community Betterment, Elkhart Park Center and the North Polk P.T.A. She enjoyed making wedding cakes, gardening, baking, playing cards and spending time with her family.
Mary is survived by three children: Kay Triplett (Chuck), of Des Moines, Carol Payne-Baker (Rod Baker), of Cambridge, Gary Percy, of Elkhart; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Wilbur Percy; two brothers, Johnny and Daniel Boyd; and an infant sister, Alice Boyd.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 11, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Elkhart with Fr. Michael Amadeo officiating. Burial was at Elkhart Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Elkhart Fire Department or St. Mary's Catholic Church.
