Funeral Services for Mrs. Thomas Tweet, former Slater resident, were held at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Radcliffe at 2:00 p. m. Saturday, Mar. 14. Rev. Ben Ostrem of Williams, interim pastor at Radcliffe, was in charge of the service and Rev. Sven J. Thompson of Chicago gave the sermon. Alvern Ellwood of Radcliffe was the soloist.
Interment was in the Radcliffe Cemetery.
Obituary
Jane Heng Tweet, daughter of Erick and Jorand Heng, was born on a farm near Radcliffe, Ia., on Aug. 16, 1876, the second in a family of eight children. She passed away Mar. 12, 1964 at the Lutheran Deaconess Hospital in Chicago at the age of 87 years.
She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Ellsworth, Ia. For many years she was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church at Radcliffe.
On Nov. 23, 1910, she was united in marriage to Thomas B. Tweet. Five children were born to this union.
Most of her life was spent in the Radcliffe community. She lived in Slater from 1942 through 1946 where she was a member of the Bethlehem Church and Ladies' Aid. She moved from Slater back to Radcliffe and has spent part of the past eight years in Chicago with her daughters, returning to Radcliffe during the summers.
She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, Thomas; her children: Mrs. Albert M. Buche (Louisa) of Slater; Irene Tweet, Mrs. Emma Frosland and Mrs. Charles Pedersen (Thelma) all of Chicago; Kenneth of Waterloo and Arthur of St. Paul, Minn.; 10 grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Anna Hendrickson of Mason City and many other relatives and friends.
The family is thankful to God for the strong, consistent Christian influence she has been in their lives. "Her children rise up and call her blessed." Prov. 31:28.
