F. H. Culp Funeral Services Sunday

Funeral services for Fred Culp were held Sunday afternoon. A prayer service at the Riis Funeral Home in Slater at 2 p. m. preceded services at the Salem Evangelical and Reformed Church in Alleman at 3 o'clock, with the pastor, Rev. A. H. Bausch, in charge.

Leora Alleman and Robert Fausch sang "Rock of Ages," "Sunrise Tomorrow" and "The City Four Square," favorite selections of the deceased. Mrs. Orville Birkestrand presided at the organ.

Pallbearers were Wm. Fleming, Sr., Emil Dennler, Wm. Muehlenthaler, Sr., Vernon Gfeller, Howard Ward and Will Alleman.

Interment was in the Lincoln Cemetery.

Attending the last rites from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. John Culp and Gordon of LaCrosse, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. Orville Weston of Laurel; Mr. and Mrs. Claude Hesseltine of Lineville; Verne Sprout of Iowa Falls; Mrs. Nellie Ringgenberg and Jack and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Ringgenberg of Winterset. Members of the Art and Needle Club and those of the Friendly Quilting Circle served dinner at noon. Members of the Salem Guild served supper.

Obituary

Fred H. Culp was born Oct. 29, 1886 in Pike County, near Beaver, Ohio, the son of Wm. Gordon and Lutecia Marie Culp. He spent his childhood in Ohio and moved to this community in 1912, and has lived here ever since. He was baptized in the Methodist Church at Beaver, Ohio, and was a member while living there.

He was married to Bessie Ringgenberg on Oct. 6, 1920, in Ankeny, Ia. Mr. Culp was a farmer until 1937, when he and his wife moved to Alleman and began in the restaurant business.

His death occurred on Sept. 5 at the Veterans Hospital in Des Moines, after a lengthy illness. He attained the age of 70 years, 10 months and 7 days.

He was preceded in death by his parents and leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Bessie; two daughters, Mrs. Viola Mosebach and Mrs. Fredora DeBie, both of Sheldahl; three brothers, John of LaCrosse, Wis., Orin of Beaver, Ohio and Omer of South Solon, Ohio; four sisters, Mrs. Mary Frederick and Mrs. Ethel Reno, both of Washington, C. H., Ohio, Mrs. Pearl Schilling of Springfield, Ohio and Mrs. Elizabeth Fischer of Columbus, Ohio; four grandchildren and a host of friends.
