CLARENCE SHERMAN STENSLAND
Huxley

Clarence Sherman Stensland passed away on Saturday, April 12 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 18 at the Fjeldberg Lutheran Church in Huxley, where he was a member. Burial will be in the Fjeldberg Cemetery in Huxley. He was born February 25, 1917 to Sam and Petra Steensland in rural Huxley and lived most of his life in the Huxley and Slater areas. He graduated from Huxley High School in 1934 and from AIB in Des Moines. He was a member of VFW Post #5459 (Huxley).

He entered the Army in January of 1942 and served in the South West Pacific, Philippines, and Japan. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal while serving in Army Intelligence in the South West Pacific. He was discharged in October 1945.

He married Eunita Evans on March 21, 1952 at Little Brown Church at Nashua, IA. He is survived by two sons, Robert of Dallas, Texas and Donald of Slater and three grandchildren, two sisters, Selma Thompson of Huxley and Freda Dewitt of Ames.

He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 17 at Soderstrum-Riis Funeral Home, Slater. In lieu of flowers memorials to Fjeldberg Lutheran Church.
