MASTER ALFRED BARNES LANDE CALLED AWAY AFTER TWO WEEKS' ILLNESS

Huxley and vicinity was deeply pained on learning of the sudden death of little Alfred Barnes Lande, the two year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Lande of northwest of that place, on Tuesday evening, September 28th. He was taken sick the previous week and in a few days the attending physician pronounced his case infantile paralysis. The upper part of his body was soon helpless. Medical skill and the loving hands of his parents did everything possible for the little one, but it all proved to no avail, and the spirit wafted its way to the Giver-- passed on to its eternal home on the 28th.

Little Alfred was like a flower on earth, were bright and joyous, with a wonderful love for all that was good and beautiful. To the home that had been childless for ten years he had brought sunshine and happiness, but it should not continue thus. Now his little chair is vacant and the playthings remain untouched, but many sweet memories linger with them all. The thought is sweet and consoling that he had gone to the arms of Saviour, there to sing His praises forever and ever with the many little ones that have gone before him, "For such is the Kingdom of Heaven." He was conscious to the very last and drew his last breath as in a peaceful sleep, and the expression on his face was that of an angel.

Alfred Barnes Lande was born August 19, 1918, northwest of Huxley and died September 28, 1920, having reached an age of two years, one month and nine days. He leaves to mourn his death, besides his grief stricken parents, his grandparents, Mr. A. Lande of Husley and Mr. and Mrs. George Barnes of south of Huxley, and host of uncles, aunts, cousins and other relatives.

No funeral services could be held at that time on account of the character of the disease. Rev. Duea was present at the home and spoke a few consoling words to the heartbroken parents. The remains were laid to rest in the family lost in the Fjeldberg cemetery. Many especially beautiful floral tributes were received, flowers that spoke of sympathy and love from relative and friends.
