Funeral Services Held For Herman Fjelland

Funeral services for Herman Fjelland were held Saturday, Dec. 18 at 2:00 p.m. at Palestine Lutheran Church. Officiating at the service were Pastor Fred Lehman of Mason City, a nephew of the deceased and Pastor Ernest T. Thompson.

Organist was Mrs. Noel Larson. She accompanied Marjorie Sheldahl and Omar Brendeland as they sang "How Beautiful Heaven Must Be" and Jaynee Headley who sang "The Old Rugged Cross." The service closed with a congregational hymn, "My Faith Looks Up To Thee."

Pallbearers were: Bruce Halverson, James Halverson, David Fjelland, Kevin Lehman, Dennis Pietzman and Norman Barker.

Interment was in Palestine Cemetery at Huxley.

Obituary

Herman Fjelland was born Nov. 29, 1908 in Story County, Ia. to parents, Andrew and Bertha Fjelland. He attended the Huxley School and was a member of Palestine Church.

He was united in marriage to Elberta Lehman at Alleman on Sept. 19, 1939.

Mr. Fjelland was in the oil station business in Huxley for the past 30 years.

He is survived by his wife, Elberta; one son, Paul of Slater; a daughter, Donna Geisler of Des Moines; three granddaughters; his stepmother, Mattie Fjelland of Loveland, Colo.; two brothers, Hubert of Scio, Ore. and Roger of Huxley; three sisters, Wanda Halverson of Ames, Rayma Richardson of California and Hortense Griffith of Loveland, Colo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Orva and Bessie.
