Huxley Woman Called by Death

Funeral services were held yesterday (Wednesday) for Mrs. N. S. Helland, 85, of Huxley, who passed away Sunday afternoon in the home of her son, Edward Helland, near Cambridge.

A short service was held in her home in Huxley at 1:30 followed by services in the Fjeldberg church. The church organist, Mrs. Orland Fjelland, played several selections softly while the audience was being seated. Mrs. Selmer Westvold sang two selections, "Jesus Savior Pilot Me" and "Store Ve De Slok."

Rev. O. C. Hellekson read the obituary and scripture taken from I Cor. 16:12. Rev. Peder Buland lead the audience in prayer and delivered the sermon, taking his text from St. john 17:5, "Eternal Life."

There were many beautiful floral gifts in charge of Mrs. Paul Lee, Mrs. A. O. Wenos and Mrs. Olem Fjelland. Also there were many gifts to missions, the Children's home in Ames and other worthy organizations.

Burial was in Fjeldberg cemetery.

A life-long resident of Huxley, Mrs. Helland was born there Nov. 18, 1863, and was married to Nels S. Helland at Huxley on Dec. 8, 1886. Her husband preceded her in death.

She is survived by two sons, Edward of Cambridge and N. D. Helland of Tulsa, Okla., a foster daughter, Beatrice Walden of New York City, a brother, Ole Frowick of Slater, a sister, Martha Oleson of Clarion, Ia., 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
