Minister's wife dies Sunday at Story City home

A former Huxley minister's wife, Mrs. Bessie Hellekson, 85, died at Bethany Manor in Story City Sunday night, May 10, after a lengthy illness.

Born in Moorhead, Minn. on Aug. 15, 1884, she was the wife of Rev. O. C. Hellekson, a former pastor of the Fjeldberg Lutheran Church in Huxley.

Survivors include two sons, Erling Hellekson of Cleveland, Ohio and Orval Hellekson of Huxley; two daughters, Ruth Hellekson of San Francisco and Mrs. Hope Gillman, Titusville, Fla.; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren and two brothers, Tom Strate, San Ysidro, Calif. and Ed Strate of Caldwell, Idaho.

Preceding Mrs. Hellekson in death were her husband, Rev. O. C. Hellekson in 1953, two daughters and a grandson.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, at the Fjeldberg Lutheran Church with Rev. Marvin Nygaard officiating.

Burial will be in the Fjeldberg Cemetery.

Riis Funeral Home in Slater are in charge of arrangements.
