Obituary

OLEY HANSON

Funeral services for Oley Hanson were held on Thursday, Jan. 26 at 1:30 p.m. at Fjelberg Lutheran Church.

Pastor Merlin Norris officiated using Psalm for the meditation text. The congregation sang, "What A Friend We Have in Jesus." Mrs. Ed Larson sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "How Great Thou Art." Organist was Mrs. Jacob Lee.

Pallbearers were Vernon Hanson, Jim Christianson, Dale Buttry, Russell Hanson, Brian Bales, John Hermann. Interment was in Fjeldberg Cemetery at Huxley.

Oley Hanson was born November 8, 1897 in Polk County, Ia. to parents Hans and Bertha Thompson Hanson.

On December 18, 1920 he was married to Hilda Fatland at Palestine Lutheran Church.

Hanson worked on the interurban railroad for many year until he retired. He was a member on Fjeldberg Lutheran Church at Huxley.

He is survived by his wife, Hilda; one son, Virgil of Des Moines; seven daughters, Verna Hermann of Slater, Stella Adams of Deer River, Minn., Edna Ross of Ames, Harriett Hermann of Omaha, Delores Buttry of Ames, Nancy Bales of Des Moines, Barbara Kennedy of Kelley; 22 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, five sisters and three brothers. One son Richard preceded him in death.
