Al Robins, 83, Died at Ames

Services for A. M. (Al) Robins, 83, of Ames, a former Slater resident, were held Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 p. m. from Adams Funeral Home in Ames.

The Rev. Harold O. Harryman of the First Methodist Church officiated.

Pallbearers were Morrill Nervig, Francis Nervig, Thomas Weeks, Howard Weeks, Irving Nervig and William Nervig.

Buiral was in the Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Obituary

Alfred M. Robins was born Dec. 22, 1878 at Plainfield, Ill. and moved with his family to Slater in 1892. He graduated from high school in Slater.

On Oct. 12, 1904 he was united in marriage to Judith Nervig at Slater.

He followed the trade of plasterer and mason.

The family moved to Ames in the '20's. From 1938 to 1948 he was employed at the Iowa State University at the Atomic Laboratories as a guard.

He had been ill for the past two and a half years, passing away Sunday morning at the Grand Avenue Nursing Home in Ames.

He was preceded in death by a son, Merle, in December 1961.

He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Marie Giddens of St. Paul, Minn.; three grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. W. J. Buche of Ames and host of relatives and friends.
