Rev. Harland Sauser

Rev Harland A. Sauser, 84, Slater, Iowa, died Friday, Sept. 29, 1995, at Madrid Home, Madrid, Iowa, from injuries sustained in a Jan. 12, 1995, automobile accident.

Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Slater Baptist Church. Burial is in Bethlehem Cemetery, Slater.

Visitation is after 3 p.m. Monday at Soderstrum-Riis Funeral Home, Slater, with family present 6:30 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.

Rev. Sauser was born March 14, 1911, in New Hartford, Iowa, the son of Floyd and Mary Mabel Snow Sauser. He married Leona M. Rissman Aug. 17, 1940. She died Nov. 17, 1987.

He was a graduate of Northwestern Bible College of Minneapolis and Sioux Falls Bible College.

He served as a pastor beginning in 1938 in Worthing, S.D.; Kasson, Minn.; Silvis, Ill.; Faribault, Minn.; and Slater, retiring in 1980.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Wolfe, West Des Moines; sons, Rev. Robert Sauser, Creston, Rev. Don Sauser, Hudson and Pastor John Sauser, Iowa City; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Darlene Sauser, Madrid, and Glee Harris, Clevelenad, Ohio; and a brother, Rev. Worth Sauser, Waterloo.
