Funeral Services Held at Slater for Walter Nelson

Special to the Journal:
Slater, April 27--Funeral services for Walter Nelson, 70 years old, of Elmore, Minn., were held Sunday afternoon at the Methodist Church in Slater at 2 o'clock. Rev. Curt Norem had charge of the services.

Many beautiful floral offerings covered the casket. Mrs. Albert Buche sang two solos, "The Old Rugged Cross" and "The Haven of Rest." The accompaniments were played by Margaret Schroeder. The pall bearers were A. A Chader, Ale Frovick, Harry Sheldahl, Hadley Nervig, Nels Ersland and Chas. Skortman. Burial was made in the Bethlehem Cemetery,

Walter Nelson was born near Sheldahl in 1873 and died at his home at Elmore, Minn., April 19, 1944, after an illness of several years. His parents were Thomas and Elizabeth Nelson His sister, Mary Nelson, died at Slater, January 5th, 1944. After his marriage they lived near Slater, but for the past 30 years have lived at Elmore. Art Nelson of Slater is a nephew. He is survived by his wife and a number of relatives, Funeral services were held at Elmore, Saturday afternoon before leaving for Slater.

Among those from out of town in attendance at the services were the following: Mrs. Walter Nelson, Miss Louise Fritzmeyer and Miss Matilda Copenhauger of Elmore, Minn.; Mrs. Elma Thompson and Miss Maybelle Danielson of Omaha, Nebr.; Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Yeomans and Mrs. Ray Crosby of Ames; also relatives from Nevada and State Center.
