Last Rites For H. E. Halverson

Halver E. Halverson son of Elling and Randie Chelsvig Halverson was born March 17, 1861 in Iowa County, Wisconsin. In 1867 he came with his parents and settled down on a farm south east of Slater, Iowa where he grew to manhood.

On October 18, 1888 he was united in marriage to Isabel Christianson, also of Slater. They were blessed with six children all of whom survive. They are: Roy Halverson of Kelley, Iowa, Mrs. M. A. Hauskins, of McCallsburg, Iowa, Mrs. Richard Sydness, of Madrid, Iowa, Lester Halverson, of Slater, Mrs. L. E. Fausch of Alleman, Iowa and Burton Halverson of Nevada, Iowa.

Most of his married life was spent on a farm in this vicinity but in 1915 they made their residence in Slater. After the death of his wife on April 22, 1929, Mr. Halverson and his daughter Ruth made their home together in Slater. Since 1936, he has made his home with his daughter Ruth at Alleman, Iowa, his son Roy at Kelley, Iowa, his son Roy at Kelley, Iowa, and his daughter Theresa at Madrid at whose home he passed away.

He is survived by one brother Tom of Des Moines, his six children, seventeen grandchildren and one greatgrandchild besides a host of relatives and friends.

He was a faithful member of the Lincoln Lutheran Church. He had always enjoyed good health until three weeks before his death when he suffered a heart attack and later a stroke which resulted in his death Friday, August 19, at 11 P. M. He reached the age of 77 years, 5 months and 2 days.

He always tried to live a christian life and always found comfort in reading the word of God. His favorite scripture was John 14 "Let not your heart be troubled; ye believe in God believe also in me."
