Mr. Heggem suffered a stroke last week on Tuesday afternoon. As a result he lost the use of his speech and his right side.

Mr. Heggem was the on of pioneer parents. He was born in Palestine township and he spent his entire life Heggem was a farmer at heart and although he retired from active farm work in 1915, his chief interest, even to the last working days, rested in the land.

In 1915, Mr. Heggem moved his family into a new home which he had built in Slater and here he lived until his death.

Although Mr. Heggem was hampered for many years with ill health he took an active part in church and community life and his many friends will remember him as a gracious giver and sympathetic helper.

On moving to Slater, Mr. Heggem transferred his church member ship to the Bethlehem Lutheran church where he remained a member until his death. He was regular in church attendance as long as his health would permit and many hours were spent in reading the family Bible when church attendance was impossible.

The floral tributes were cared for by Miss Edna Houge and Mrs. Herman Hegberg. Many gifts to the missions were presented in remembrance of the deceased.
