Rites Saturday for Gust Gustafson, 72

Funeral services for Gust C. Gustafson, 72, were held Saturday afternoon, Sept. 16 at 2:00 in the Slater Methodist Church with Rev. Glen Drew officiating. Lester Moore sang "In the Garden" and "The Old Rugged Cross," accompanied by the organist, Mrs. Orrie Stauffer.

Pallbearers were Warren Young, Orville Bannister, Stanley Klonglan, Ralph Dunahoo, Glen Grow and LaVerne Drake. Interment was at Bethlehem Cemetery.

Obituary

Gust C. Gustafson was born March 20, 1895 in Sweden and came to America as a young man.

On July 20, 1930 he was married to Vivian Morgan of Colfax. To this marriage were born three daughters. Mr. Gustafson spent many years farming in the Rippey area until he and Mrs. Gustafson began operating a cafe in Ruthven. They operated the cafe until Mr. Gustafson's retirement seven years ago when they moved to Slater.

Mr. Gustafson passed away Thursday afternoon at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines. He had suffered a heart condition for 2 1/2 years. Survivors include his wife, Vivian, three daughters: Mrs. Marvin (Patricia) Harris of Sheldahl, Mrs. Leonard (Joan) Oman of Ruthven and Mrs. Dean (Nancy) Hanson of Estherville, five grandsons and five granddaughters.
