Services Held for Mrs. Schonhorst

Funeral services for Mrs. George Schonhorst were held Wednesday afternoon at Salem United Church of Christ in Alleman.

The Rev. Reuben Eversman officiated at the service, basing his talk on the text taken form John 16:33.

There were two congregational hymns, "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" and "I Love to Tell the Story."

Pallbearers were William Schonhorst, Wesley Schonhorst, William Frederick, Jr., Carroll Racek, Harold Croft and Vern Mueller.

Interment was in the Lincoln Cemetery, near Alleman.

Funeral arrangements were in charge of the Riis Funeral Home at Slater.

Obituary

Gladys Marie Croft was born on June 19, 1904 in Sheldahl, a daughter of Joseph and Laura Clark Croft.

On Mar. 4, 1926, she was united in marriage to George Schonhorst. To this union was born one son, Donald George.

Mrs. Schonhorst was an active member of the Salem United Church of Christ in Alleman as long as her health permitted.

She passed away on Monday, Jan. 11 at the Des Moines General Hospital after having been in failing health for number of years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-mother, Eva Chader Croft; and Mr. and Mrs. Will Croft, of Slater, in whose home she was raised.

She is survived by her husband, George; her son and daughter-in-law, Don and Mary Anne Schonhorst; three grandchildren, Mary Carole, Roger and Rosemary; a sister, Mrs. Faye (Clarice) Rolfe, of Kansas city, Mo. and many other relatives and friends.
