James Ross Hambly, 62 of Nevada died Friday, September 23 at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, September 27 at the Memorial Lutheran Church with Pastor David Burling officiating. Burial was held in the Lincoln Township Cemetery in Zearing.

Jim was born on July 4, 1943 in Ames to Glen Carlton "Jiggs" and Marjorie (Bushman) Hambly. He was a 1961 graduate of New Providence and attended Ellsworth Junior College. He retired as a co-owner of Ames Computer Form Inc on December 30, 2004. Jim was a member of the Memorial Lutheran Church and past member of the Nevada School Board and Nevada Fire Department. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, traveling, riding his Harley and driving his Corvette.

Jim is survived by his fiancée, Jackie Becker of Nevada; 2 sons, Jason Hambly (Kim) and granddaughter Megan of Shellsburg, Iowa and Shannon Hambly (Tawnya) and grandchildren Drew and Sidney of Long Grove, Iowa; A daughter, Shelly (John) Whaley and grandchildren, Shane (Jill) Webster, Starlene (Wyatt) Randolph, Jody Jimanez, and John Whaley; His mother, Marjorie Hambly of Nevada; A brother, Steven (Connie) Hambly of Nevada; 3 great grandchildren; and Jackie's children and Jim's close friends, Brad and Tonya Becker and baby Parker of Ames, Mike and Jill Becker of Ames, and Andrew Becker at home.

Jim was preceded in death by his father, G. Carlton "Jiggs" Hambly on June 29, 2001.

A memorial fund has been established in Jim's name for the Nevada Fire Department.
