Lloyd "Ike" Coughenour, 79, of Colo, Iowa, died on Wednesday, September 21, 2005 at his residence, 722 West Street, Colo. Services were held Monday, September 26, at the Colo United Methodist Church in Colo. Burial was in the Colo Cemetery in Colo.
Lloyd was born on December 28, 1925 to Issac and Agnes (Bowers) Coughenour. He was a life long Colo resident, graduating from the Colo High School in 1944. He attended country school at Dalton School in rural Colo.
Lloyd was a self employed painter, contractor for 45 years, retiring in 1987. He was a member of the Colo United Methodist Church and a volunteer fireman for the Colo Fire Dept for 10 years. Earlier Lloyd had been foreman for PMA paint crews and grain bins across Iowa.
He married Jane Dalrymple on April 3, 1953 at the Colo United Methodist Church.
Lloyd is survived by his wife, Jane of Colo; three daughters, Nancy (Earl) Milleson of Colo, Ellen Coughenour of North Pole, Alaska, Betty (Craig) Mansfield of Maxwell, Iowa; one son, Steven (Nancy) Coughenour of Wappapello, Missouri; five grandchildren, Phillip, Patrick, Price, Paul (Jessica) Milleson and Royal Mansfield; and two sisters, Hazel Kelderhouse of Marshalltown, Iowa and Violet Peterson of Bloomington, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Colo First Responders, Homeward Hospice in Ames, Iowa, or the Colo Lions Club. Fredregill Funeral Home at Zearing was in charge of the arrangements.
