Larry J. Boten, 70, the son of Myron and Ruth (Anderson) Boten, was born January 5, 1935 in Nevada, Iowa. He graduated from the Roland, Iowa Senior High School, Class of 1952 and attended the University of Iowa, in Iowa City. He served his country with the US Coast Guard and Coast Guard Reserves for 30 years. Larry was employed as sales manager for the Stone Container Company in New Orleans, Louisiana.

On June 1, 1975, Larry was united in marriage with Gayle Bulot in New Orleans. He had lived in New Orleans, prior to moving to Newton, Iowa in 1996. He was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church in Roland, Iowa; the Newton American Legion Post #111; B.P.O.E.; and the Masonic Grand Lodge #444. Larry moved to Marshalltown, Iowa in 2003.

Death came to Larry on Saturday, September 24, 2005 at the Iowa Veteran's Home in Marshalltown. He was preceded in death by his parents; a niece and a nephew.

Funeral services were held Wednesday. Burial was held in Nevada Wednesday. Memorials will be in Larry's name.

Those left to honor Larry's memory include his sons & daughters-in-law; Larry J. Boten, Jr. & Debbie, Dale Boten & Sharon and Brent Boten & Susan, all of New Orleans, Louisiana; his six grandchildren; his sister & brother-in-law; Mary & David Twedt of Newton; his brother; John & Judy Boten of Moline, Illinois, his former wife, Gayle Boten of New Orleans and his many good neighbors and friends.
