NEVADA JOURNAL, Nevada, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, September 29, 2005.

Russell Edward Morfey, 79 of Nevada died Tuesday, September 13, 2005 at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines. Memorial services will be held at 4:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 1 at Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada with Pastor Brice Hughes officiating. Burial of the cremains will follow in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery.

Russell was born on June 19, 1926 in Blue Earth, Minnesota to Ross E. and Grace Opal Faye (Anderson) Morfey. He lived in Nevada most of his life. Russ loved to ride his bike and rode in RAGBRAI 3 years. He played the trumpet in jazz and dance bands. Russ enjoyed playing chess, loved story telling, and assisting with community services and activities.

Russell is survived by his sister, Marlene (Morfey) Carleton of Tillamook, Oregon; a sister-in-law, Waneta (Kirby) Morfey of Hoffman, Minnesota; and 2 nieces and 4 nephews and their spouses and families.

Russell was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Donald LeRoy Morfey.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Mortuary.

Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada has been entrusted with the arrangements.
