Patricia Ann Hopkin, 78, of Collins, Iowa, passed away on Monday, January 9, 2023 at her home, surrounded by her family.
Burial by the family will take place at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, January, 13, 2023 at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the family. Patricia Kolesar was born on September 14, 1944 in Trenton, New Jersey to George Sr. and Margaret Sylvester Kolesar. She graduated from high school in Trenton, New Jersey. Pat was united in marriage to Thomas B. Hopkin in Pennsylvania. Thomas was stationed in the military, and him and Pat called Michigan, New York, Florida and Illinois home, before Pat moved to Iowa to be closer to her family. Pat had previously been a waitress and more recently was a door greeter at Wal Mart and enjoyed giving children of all ages a sticker as they walked in the door. Pat was a member of the NCO Club while on the military base. She enjoyed shopping on QVC, coffee and loved to eat and will be remembered for being a restaurant connoisseur.
Patricia is survived by her children: Steve (Tonia) Hopkin and Mike Hopkin. Grandchildren: Jonathan (Kaylee) Hopkin, Jennifer (Jake) Oaks, James (Heather) Hopkin, and Joey Hopkin. Great grandchildren: Owen, Lillie, Allie, Connor, Anna, Julia, Oliver and Noah. She is also survived by siblings: Margie Kolesar, Nancy Parr, and George Kolesar and her niece, Nancy Smith.
Patricia is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas; her parents, George Sr. and Margaret Kolesar; daughter: Pam Schone; grandchild: Shay Hopkin and sister: Betty Jean Kolesar.
