DEATH CALLS JOHN BROWN

He Passed To the Great Beyond at His Home West of Sheldahl on Friday Evening.

After an illness that extended over a period of years, Mr. John Brown passed away at his home west of Sheldahl last Friday evening, the 10th, at an age of 73 years, 3 months and 17 days. While gradually getting weaker for some time, there was no change in his condition till last Thursday evening, when there was a decided turn for the worse, making it evident to the watchers at his bedside that he could not survive long. He lingered till Friday evening.

Funeral took place Tuesday afternoon from the home at 1 o'clock and at the Lincoln church, of which had been a member for many years, at 2. The services were in charge of his pastor, Rev. Duea, who paid a splendid tribute to his memory. The choir sang "Some day the Silver Chord Will Break" and "Nearer My God to Thee," Miss Anna Sheldahl, "Den Store Hvide Flok" and Rev. Ruea, "Fly Som En Fugl."

Deceased was born in Norway on April 23, 1850. Emigrating to this country, he resided with his family on a farm northwest of Slater for many years. Sixteen years ago he moved into a farm west of Sheldahl where he continued to reside till death called him last week. For over thirty years he had been the victim of asthma and hay fever, maladies that finally claimed his life at an advanced age. He was quiet and reserved, a splendid home maker, kind and loving, and thoroughly interested in church activities.

Besides his life companion he is mourned by a family of fourteen children, seven sons and seven daughters, Mrs. Margaret Hedlund of Slater, the Misses Anna and Esther of Jackson, Minnesota, Miss Carrie of Kansas City and the Misses Mabel, Ruth and Beulah, who are at home; sons, Joe, Fred, Howard and Oscar of Jackson, Minnesota, and Tom, Earl and Jack, who are at home. All the children were present at the last sad rites yesterday.
