Rites Yesterday for Mrs. Julia Heggem

Mrs. Julia Heggem, long time Slater resident, died Sunday at the Gilmore Nursing Home in Nevada. She would have been 94 years of age of July 26.

Services were held yesterday, Wednesday, afternoon at the Riis Funeral Home at 1:30 p. m. and the Bethlehem Lutheran Church at 2 o'clock.

Pastor Leo O. Bjorlie was in charge of the services and chose Matt 6:10 "Thy Will Be Done" as his text.

The soloist, Mrs. Lester Becker, sang "In the Garden" and "Softly and Tenderly." She was accompanied by the organist, Mrs. Oliver Newman.

Pallbearers were John Nervug, Dr. Jack Neeley, Donald Skola, Wayne Peterson, Sam Ringgenberg and Dr. Kenneth Reinertson.

Interment was in the Bethlehem Cemetery.

Obituary

Mrs. Julia Heggem, daughter of Sevart and Siverina Knutson, was born July 26m 1865, near Story City, and passed away on June 14.

She was united in marriage to Tom Olai Heggem on Sept. 5, 1885.

She is survived by one son and nine daughters, 17 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Miss Lizzie Knutson and Mrs. Lena Stanley, both of San Francisco.

The children are: Mrs, Ruth Harmer of Slater; Mrs. Ceclia Skola, Mrs. Sadie Mathews, Mrs. Marjorie Pederson and Mrs. Doris Nervig, all of Ames, Ia.; Mrs. Tillie Johnson and Mrs. Kathryn Ward, both of Oakland, Calif.; Mrs. Jeanette Henry of Chicago; Mrs. Loretta Perry of Denver, Colo. and Sanford Heggem of Atlantic.

She was preceded in death by her husband and one daughter, Mrs. Mable Reinertson.
