Last Rites Held for Mrs. Clara Johnson

Last rites for Mrs. Clara Johnson of Kelley were held Friday afternoon.

A short service at the Riis Funeral Home here was held at 1:30. Funeral services were held at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Kelley at 2 p. m. Pastor Leo O. Bjorlie was in charge. For his message at the church he chose his text from Philippians 3:3-20, speaking on "Our Citizenship in Heaven."

Lowell Accola and Bud Brendeland sang "Save in the Arms of Jesus" and "Near to the Heart of God." They were accompanied by the organist, Mrs. Lowell Accola.

Pallbearers were Wm. Schaudt, Dale Swanson, King Schaudt, Ervin Nelson, Thurman Johnson and Ingman Lundy.

Interment was in the Palestine Cemetery, near Huxley.

Obituary

Clara Emelia Queensland, daughter of Knute and Malinda Queensland, was born on a farm southeast of Sheldahl on Dec. 23, 1886, and passed away Mar. 22 at the Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames at the age of 73 years, 2 months and 28 days, after a lingering illness.

On Jan. 29, 1908 she was united in marriage to Martin Johnson. To this union five children were born.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin, and two children, Charlotte and Mervin; and also by a brother Alick Queensland.

Her surviving children are: Kermit of Kelley, Martha Gilbert of Huxley and Alvira Henderson of Ellsworth.

Also surviving are eight grandchildren, one great-grandson, three sisters--Mrs. Tom Lundy, Mrs. Orville Swanson and Mrs. Alma Schaudt--all of Slater, and one brother, Carl, of Jewell.

She was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church at Kelley.

Mrs. Johnson was a very patient and devoted mother. She leaves a host of friends and neighbors to mourn her passing in addition to the relatives listed above. May God bless her memory.
