THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, September 27, 2005.

Orpha G. Walsh, 91, of Ames, died Sunday, Sept. 25, at Bethany Manor in Story City. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Ames with Father Terry Rassmussen presiding. Burial will follow in Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Orpha was born Feb. 19, 1914, in Des Moines to William T. and Catherine (Kelleher) Milligan. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Des Moines. Following graduation, she was employed by Woltz Studio and later by Iowa State University. She married Feb. 6, 1937, to Dr. Eugene V. Walsh, who practiced dentistry in Ames for 56 years. She was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church; Catholic Daughters of America; the Altar and Rosary Society, and Theta Chi Sorority. She volunteered in the Mary Greeley Medical Center Hospitality Shop for many years. She loved her family and traveled throughout the United States with her husband.

She is survived by her son, Dr. Stephen J. (Dr. Kristin Razzeca) Walsh of San Francisco; three daughters, Mary E. Neitge of Minnetonka, Minn., Marjorie (Dr. Stephen) Curtis of Indian Wells, Calif., and Eileen Born of Ames and son, William (Rita M.) Walsh of Carmel, Ind.; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1994; six brothers; and one sister.
A visitation will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church.

Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames is assisting the family with arrangements.
