Martin Thompson Rites Held Tuesday
Funeral services for Martin Thompson were held at the Riis Funeral Home in Slater Tuesday at 2 p. m. with the Rev. M. H. Rye in charge.
Pallbearers were Ole Legvold Jr., Oley Johnson, Tilmer Sydnes, Gene Sydnes, John Hendricks and Sherman Risvold.
Burial was in Fjeldberg Cemetery.
Obituary
Martin Thompson, born June 28, 1889, was the youngest son of Torger and Ingeborg Thompson.
He grew up on a farm east of Alleman in Polk County and was baptized and confirmed in the Fjeldberg Lutheran Church. He was an overseas veteran of World War I.
He spent most of his life in the Huxley community. The past 25 years Martin and his brother, Gunder, have lived in Huxley and have been willing and capable in the work they have been called upon to do.
The last years Mr. Thompson's health has been failing. He died at his home on Apr.22, at the age of 71 years, 9 months and 22 days.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl and Tom, and two sisters, Lizzy Larson and Bertha Thompson.
Surviving are two brothers, Richard and Gunder, of Huxley; two sisters, Julia Opdahl of Ireton, and Clara Holland of Radcliffe, and many nieces and nephews.
