THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, September 27, 2005.

Evelyn Bluhm, 91, formerly of 113 Park Drive, Charles City, died Sunday, Sept. 25, at the Evangelical Free Church Home in Boone.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, at First Congregational Church in Charles City with the Rev. Phil Corr officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.

The family will greet friends at the church an hour prior to the service.

Evelyn Lucile Lynch Bluhm was born March 14, 1914, in Floyd, the daughter of Walter and Nettie (Wiltsie) Lynch. She graduated from Floyd High School in 1932 where she had served as the captain of the girls basketball team. She then attended the Charles City College. She married Kenneth Bluhm June 18, 1932, at First Congregational Church in Charles City. They owned and operated the Bluhm Electric Company for many years. She was a member of First Congregational Church, Pythian Sisters in which she held various local and state offices, the Charles City Women's Club, city improvement and Soroptomists. Her interests included reading and writing poetry, raising violets and attending church services and activities. She will be remembered as a very civic-minded and patriotic person.

Living family members include one son, Dr. Delwyn (Georgia) Bluhm of Ames; one daughter, Kathleen (Rees) Hakanson of Boone; five grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; an infant son, Douglas Bluhm; and nine brothers and sisters.

Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Foundation, Floyd County Historical Society or to the family.

Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City is in charge of arrangements.
