Rites at Sheldahl For John Croft, 86

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon from the Riis Funeral Home here and the Methodist Church at Sheldahl for John Croft. Rev. Wm. Hoyle was in charge.

Mrs. Wm. Hoyle was soloist and Mrs. Orrie Stauffer was pianist.

Pallbearers were Arthur Pritchard, Wilbur Thornwall, E. C. Rood, Morrill Nervig, Gordon Gaulke and Harry Sunding.

Following services at the church the body was returned to the funeral home to await cremation.

Obituary.

John Franklin Croft, son of Erick and Martha Croft, was born June 6, 1869. He was the fifth in a family of seven boys and one girl, all of whom preceded him in death.

Most of his life was spent in the farm where he was born in Palestine Township, Boone County, when "Swede Point," now Madrid, was the nearest town.

He was married Feb. 21, 1895 to Ellen Elizabeth Nelson and leaves, besides his wife, two daughters Mrs. Verner Nelson and Mrs. Vernon Mueller, 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren to mourn him.

A son, Lester and daughter, Alice, preceded him in death.

As a youth he joined the Swedish Methodist Church in Sheldahl and remained a faithful member during his lifetime.
