Last Rites Are Held For Jacob B. Fausch

Last rites were held Saturday afternoon for Jacob B. Fausch, 76, of Alleman.

A prayer service was held at the Riis Funeral Home at 1 p. m., followed by services at the Salem Evangelical and Reformed Church in Alleman at 2 o'clock. The Rev. A. H. Bausch, pastor of the church was in charge.

Robert Fausch, soloist, sang "I'd Rather Have Jesus." Mrs. C. C. Alleman and Mr. Fausch sang two duets, "Softly and Tenderly" and "Precious Lord Take My Hand." Mrs. Orville Birkestrand was the organist.

Pallbearers were Dwight Fausch, Herbert Fausch, Richard Fausch, John Alleman, George Fausch and Cecil Fausch. Honorary pallbearers were Irvin Alleman, Wilbur Alleman, Delmar Alleman, Loren Upchurch, Howard Waters and Howard Ward.

Interment was in the Lincoln Cemetery.

Obituary

Jacob B. Fausch was born Sept. 24, 1880, in Switzerland. He came to America with his parents when he was a child, and had been a resident of Des Moines and Ames. He became a farmer near Alleman and followed this occupation the past 50 years.

He was united in marriage to Amelia Martha Alleman on Feb. 16, 1905. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1955. His wife preceded him in death exactly one month ago.

Mr. Fausch was active in Red Cross work, community affairs and activities of the church until his illness. He served as Lincoln Township chairman of the Red Cross for many years. He was an ardent farmer and vitally interested in the development of agriculture.

Mr. Fausch died of a heart attack at the Iowa Methodist Hospital on Aug. 28. He had been ill for three and one-half weeks and had undergone recent surgery.

He is survived by two sons: Roy V. of Slater and Lawrence E. of Alleman; two daughters: Mrs. Gaylord Larson of Leon and Mrs. John Hadley of Alleman; a brother, John, of Youcapa, Calif.; two sisters: Mrs. J. G. Walton of Des Moines and Mrs. Hannah Alleman of Ames, and 12 grandchildren.
