Services Held for Mrs. Simonson

Funeral services for Mrs. Emma Simonson were held Friday afternoon at 1:30 from the Riis Funeral home and 2 o'clock in the Bethlehem Lutheran church. The services were conducted by her pastor, Rev. P. E. Onstad.

At the home Pastor Onstad sang "Friends of Jesus." Vocal numbers at the church included a duet, "Have Thine Own Way," by Homer Lewis and Rev. Onstad; a solo, "I Know of a Sleep in Jesus Name," by Pastor Onstad, and a solo, "Under His Wings," by Homer Lewis.

The flowers were cared for by Mrs. Ray Rimathe and Mrs. Wilbur Thornwall. There were also gifts to missions in memory of Mrs. Simonson.

Casket bearers were Arlo and Orin Erickson, Robert and Jerrol Newman and Ronald and Roger Laycock.

Interment was in the Bethlehem cemetery.

Obituary.

Emma Simonson, daughter of Thomas and Martha Weeks, was born in Story county, Aug. 29, 1875, and lived in this community all her life. She passed away Sept. 30 at the age of 78 years, 1 month and 1 day.

On Oct. 25, 1900 she was united in marriage to John Simonson. To this union five children were born.

She leaves to mourn her departure the following children: Mrs. Edna Laycock, Marvel and Irven Simonson and Mrs. LaVona Lee, all of Madrid. Her eldest son and her husband preceded her in death. She is also survived by five grandchildren, four sisters and one brother. The sisters are Mrs. Martha Lee of Cambridge, Mrs. Sadie Travase of Huxley, Mrs. Helen Storing and Mrs. Clara Brown of Slater. The brother is Wier Weeks of Huxley.

Mrs. Simonson was baptized and confirmed in the Palestine church. It was in the Palestine community that she grew to young womanhood. Later, when she married, she transferred her membership to the Bethlehem Lutheran church in Slater, where she was a faithful member and active until her health failed her.
