She spent her childhood days on a farm north of Slater and received her elementary education at the Bloomfield School. Later she attended Slater High School where she attended Slater High School where she graduated with the class of 1915, after which she continued her advanced education at Iowa State Teachers College, where she earned her degree in the summer of 1918. Following graduation, she taught at Schlesvig, Ia. for two years and at the Sheldahl Schools for another two years. After coming to Des Moines she did some substitute teaching but later took work at the State finance Co., where she was employed until recently.
In 1921 she married Clarence Neslund at Willmar, Minn., where they lived a short period and later moved to Slater. She had been a resident of Des Moines for the past 30 years.
Mr. Neslund passed away in November, 1949.
She leaves to mourn her loss: two daughters, Lois (Mrs. Paul Johnson) and Phyllis (Mrs. Richard Arland); one sister, Marie Brown; four grandchildren, Carol Johnson and Richard, Jean and Danny Arland, all of Des Moines, and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Brown; three sisters, Margaret, Anna and Carolyn, and five brothers, John, Osmund, Edward, Milford and Arthur.
