Obituary
Louisa Arntz Chader, daughter of Simon and Malinda Arntz, was born in Palestine Township, Story County, Iowa, on Jan. 31, 1870, and died at her home in Slater, Iowa, on Aug. 1, 1961, at the age of 91 years and 7 months.
She grew to womanhood in the Huxley-Cambridge community, and after attending school in Des Moines, Iowa, settled in the Slater community. She was one of Slater's pioneer business people, operating a millinery store during the time the town was being settled.
She was united in marriage to Aimel A. Chader in 1892 and she lived in Slater practically all of her adult life. Her husband preceded her in death on Aug. 28, 1958.
She was the mother of eight children, five of whom predeceased her: Stough and Alma in childhood, her son Lloyd F. Chader in France in World War I, her sons Virgil and Merle in 1959.
She leaves to mourn her death her daughter Eunice C. Chader of Slater, and her two sons, Ward E. Chader of Madrid, Iowa, and Shelby A. Chader of Slater, Iowa; three grandchildren, Keith Chader of Kansas City, Mo., Mrs. Robert Buckley of Des Moines, Ia. and Mary Louise Chader of Slater, Ia.; and four great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Chder and her late husband were, from their early married life, members of the Slater Methodist Church, and while health and strength permitted she was faithful and active in work of her church. She was a charter member of the Methodist Women's Missionary Society (no the Women's Society of Christian Service). As a Gold Star Mother, she helped organize the Slater American Legion Auxiliary and she was its first president.
She will be remembered by her family as a God-fearing person, a kind, loving and unselfish mother, devoted to her home and family, and by many who knew and loved her, as good neighbor and a kind friend.
