DEATH CLAIMS MRS. SHEPARD

Forer Sheldahl Resident Died at the Lutheran Hospital at Des Moines

Mrs. H. D. Shepard of Des Moines, formerly of Sheldahl, died at the Lutheran hospital at Des Moines on Wednesday morning, April 25th after a brief illness though she had not been in the best of health for some time. She had been making her home with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Nelson, at Des Moines.

The remains were taken back to her old home town, Sheldahl, for burial on Friday afternoon the services being held from the Methodist church, where she worshipped while a resident of that place. The services were in charge of her pastor the Rev. Dr. Wirt, pastor of the St. John Lutheran church of Des Moines. He was assisted by the Rev. G. C. Swain, pastor at whose church the services were held. There were many lovely floral pieces. Burial was made in the family lot in the Sheldahl cemetery.

Obituary of Mrs. Shepard

Mrs. Ella Shepard was born at Gorman, Ohio, October 28, 1860 and died April 25, 1934 at an age of 73 years, 5 months and 28 days. She grew to womanhood in and around Hastings, Michigan. Her marriage to Harris D. Shepard was solemnized June 28, 1876.

They came to Iowa in 1892. In the fall of 1903 they took up their residence in Sheldahl where Mr. Shepherd served the North Western road as their station agent till his retirement with a pension in 1925, when the Shepards moved to Des Moines. In 1926 they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary with their children and other relatives and friends. The following year, on the 28th of December, Mr. Shepard passed on.

Four children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Shepard, all of whom survive them. They are: Espy Shepard, Mrs. E. E Biggs and Mrs. E. O. Nelson of Des Moines and Luman Shepard of near Bena, Minn. She is also mourned by two brothers of Battle Creek, Michigan; a sister of Hastings, Michigan; and a twin sister of Detroit, Michigan; also eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Deceased was a faithful member of the St. John Lutheran church of Des Moines.
