Albert C. Hitz Rites Held January 9th
Funeral services for Albert C. Hitz were held Thursday afternoon, Jan. 9 at the Salem United Church of Christ in Alleman, with the Rev. Reuben Eversman officiating.
The congregation sang "Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah," with Mrs. Orville Birkestrand as the organist.
Pallbearers were Fred Hitz, Earl Mosebach, Marion Coppock, Albert Fausch, Robert Graeber and Albert Matzinger.
In charge of the many beautiful floral tributes were Mrs. Marie Gfeller and Mrs. Irene Alleman.
Interment was in the Lincoln Cemetery near Alleman.
Obituary
Albert Carl Hitz was born in Polk County, Ia., on July 31, 1878, the son of the late John and Anna Hitz. He was the youngest child in the family and preceded in death by all his brothers and sisters.
On Feb. 22, 1905 he was married to Susanna Alleman. Their marriage was blessed with three children. The eldest child, Verna, died at the tender age of two years.
The surviving children are Mrs. Ruby Kruse of Slater and Robert Hitz of Des Moines. He is survived by five grandchildren: J. Rodney Krause of Polk City, Dr. Charles Krause of San Antonio, Tex., Mrs. Susan Ey of St. Louis, Mo., Mrs. Mary Colvig of Des Moines and Miss Barbar Hitz of Des Moines. He is survived by three great-grandchildren: Billy and Bobby Krause and Sydney Susan Ey.
