THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, September 20, 2005.

Elmer "Bud" M. Thorsheim, 91, of Story City, died Sept. 19, at Bethany Manor in Story City. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 22, at St. Petri Lutheran Church in Story City. Burial will be in Story City Cemetery.

Bud was born Jan. 5, 1914, in Radcliffe to Rasmus and Anna (Hyland) Thorsheim. He married Aleda "Lee" Johnson on May 30, 1944. He farmed near Radcliffe until retiring in 1979, when they moved to Story City. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening.

He is survived by his wife, Lee, of Story City; three daughters, Judith (Al) Thorsheim Blankschien of Milwaukee, Mary (Steve) Hanson of rural Roland and Bonnie (Michael) Phillips of Minneapolis; one sister, Ruth Dickey of Orono, Maine; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Patricia; three brothers, Iver, Joseph and Henry; and two sisters, Serina Hegland and Alma Hougen.

Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Wednesday with the family present from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Bethany Manor. A prayer service will be at 7 p.m.

Soderstrum Funeral Home in Story City is in charge of arrangements.
