LINK, J. (JOHN) GEORGE (1874-1951)

THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, November 22, 1951, page 1, column 1.
“GEORGE LINK SUCCUMBS. – J. George Link, son of George and Christina Link, was born in Jasper County, near Mingo, Iowa, on April 26, 1874, and passed to his eternal reward on November 12, 1951, at the age of 77 years, 6 months and 16 days. He was united in marriage to Altie Enfield on March 3, 1897. To this union was born two daughters, Opal George of Odessa, Texas, and Orpha Hester of Des Moines, Iowa. At an early age he moved to the vicinity of Maxwell, where he spent most of his life until eight years ago when he with his wife, who has preceded him in death, November 23, 1950, moved to Cambridge, were he has since made his home. He was a kind and loving husband and father and a good friend to everyone. He will be greatly missed by the many friends as well as by his relatives. He leaves to morn his passing tow daughters and sons-in-law; four grandchildren, George Setzer, Tommy, Dolores and Chris George; one great-grandson, Jon Setzer; three sisters, Ann Cairns of Maxwell; Kate Miller of Grimes; and Ola Witmer of Maxwell; three brothers, Martin Link of Maxwell; Charlie Link of Ames; and Leonard Link of Maxwell, also other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held at the Loring Church Wednesday, November 14 with Rev. Mark Wetteland in charge. Mrs. Alice Gooden sang appropriate hymns with Mrs. Betty Porter at the piano. Pall bearers, nephews of Mr. Link, were George Cairns, Harold Link, Marold Witmer, Theodore Miller, Marion Link and Dale Link. Burial was in Loring cemetery.” “CARD OF THANKS. – We wish to thank our many friends and neighbors for their acts of kindness and beautiful floral offerings sent us at the time of the death of or loved one. Mr. and Mrs. C. C. George, Mr. and Mrs. D. E. Hester, Mr. and Mrs. George Setzer.”
