J. C. FAUSCH
John C. Fausch was born in Switzerland on June 9, 1843, and died at Des Moines on April 18, 1929, at the age of 85 years, 10 months and 9 days.
As a young lad of 14 he emigrated to this country with his parents and their family. In 1864 he came to Polk county and made his home here ever since.
At about the age of 15 he united by confirmation with the Reformed church, of which church he was a member all his life.
In 1865 he was married to Veronica Neunschwander. Eight children were born to this union, five of whom survive. She departed this life in the year 1877. Two years later, 1879, he was married to Mary Anna Sherer. To this marriage were born nine children, three of whom are living.
So he leaves to mourn his death his wife and eight children, six daughter and two sons, forty grand children, fifty-four great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Deceased made his home on a farm west of Alleman, where he resided for many years and did well, playing an important part in the development of the community. He was a man of the highest type and enjoyed the confidence and esteem of the entire community. Later he took up his residence in Des Moines, there to enjoy in comfort and ease the fruits of his well directed efforts in company with his life companion.
