OBITUARY

Ole Edwin Van Gundy, the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Van Gundy, was born near Crocker, October 21, 1885, and died on April 9, 1929, at an age of 43 years, 5 months and 18 days, and made Slater his home the balance of his life. He was a member of M. E. church belonged to the Odd Fellows and Rebekah lodges.

He was united in marriage to Emma R. Rippey of Oyer, Missouri, January 14, 1918. To this union were born two children, Ferne Genevieve and Edwin Austin. He is mourned by his life companion and three children, Ferne and Edwin and Faye Violet Wesley of Sioux City, Iowa, a child by a former marriage. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Van Gundy, three sisters and two brothers. The sisters are Mrs. Anna Moore of south of Sheldahl and Mrs. Mary Harris and Mrs. Ruby Meadows of West Palm Beach, Florida. His two brothers are William of Slater and Lincoln of Centuria, Wisconsin. He is also mourned by many other relatives and friends.

Ole seemed to have premonition that he would not return to Slater again alive and he bade his friends good bye as he was about to leave the city. Rev. Smith, who administered to his spiritual needs at the hospital, told of many beautiful visits with him--how he had joined him in devotions, conscious to the last.
