Obituary.

The funeral services of Mrs. Luke Davis were held at her home in Grant township at one o'clock, Thursday, by Rev. Williams of the Ames Christian church and interment was made in the Ames cemetery. Ann Stewart was born in Montgomery county, Indiana, in the year of 1833, and was 74 years of age at the time of her death. She was married to Luke Davis in 1854, who still survives her. With her husband they were united with the Christian church in the same year, to which she was still a member. They moved to Iowa by wagon and settled near Toledo in Tama county in 1865, and from there to Story county in 1898, where they resided until her death. There were twelve children born to this union, seven sons and five daughters. Eleven are still living, one son died in infancy. They are George T., James W., Daniel B., Jesse, Elwood, Nora Stiles, Maude Mattingly and Gertrude Davis all of Story county, Mary Bidwell of South Dakota, the only one not present and Ida Smith of Marshall county. She also leaves one sister, Mrs. Mary Lane of Ames and three brothers in Indiana. She was a true wife and a faithful mother.
