“DOROTHY L. TOMLINSON May 25 1922 – May 27, 2002. Dorothy L. Tomlinson, 80, of Elkhart, died Monday of heart failure at State Center Manor in State Center. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Fjeldberg Lutheran Church in Huxley, with the Rev. Tom Hilger officiating. Burial will be in Fjeldberg Lutheran Cemetery in Huxley. Dorothy L. Tomlinson was born May 25, 1922, in Des Moines, the daughter of Peter O. and Carrie (Birkestrand) Hulderson. She married James “Dick” Tomlinson May 24, 1946, in Huxley. She farmed with her husband in the Cambridge area until he died in 1987. In all, she farmed for 60 years. She is survived by two daughters, Shirley Sandoval of Elkhart and Karin Tomlinson of Fresno, Calif.; one son, Steve Tomlinson of Cambridge; two sisters, Marie Pebbles of Des Moines and Oma Fraker of Milwaukee; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; five sisters; and two brothers. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at Soderstrum-Riis Funeral Home in Slater. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Fjeldberg Lutheran Church in Huxley. Soderstrum Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.”
