TRI COUNTY TIMES, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, September 1, 2005.

Frances Lillian Thomason, 99 of Ames died Thursday, August 25, 2005 at Abington on Grand in Ames. Graveside services were held Monday, August 29 at the Walnut Grove Cemetery five miles southeast of Ames.

Frances Lillian Thomason was born June 18, 1906 in Laurens, IA to Earl and Lillian (Krug) Messer. She lived in the Ames area for 70 years and in her present home since 1941. She taught for one year in a country school. Frances worked for many years as a salesperson with Montgomery Wards on Main Street and the South Duff location. She enjoyed meeting people, selling them paint, tires, housewares, and other merchandise. She also worked at Tilden Manufacturing and Younkers. Frances enjoyed camping, sewing, knitting, crocheting and gardening.

She is survived by a son Daryl (Maxine) Thomason, Ames; a daughter Mary L. Thomason, Ames; a sister Violet Bradford, Des Moines, five grandchildren, Laverne Thomason, Lorraine Uitermarkt, Mary-Ellen Bartels, Ellen Gillman and David Ruskin; eight great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Dorothy Ruskin, three sisters and two brothers.

Visitation was Sunday, August 28 at Adams Funeral Home.
