H. A. Horness Dies, Funeral Thursday

Haaken A. Horness, 66, died at the Mary Greeley Hospital Sunday at 5:30 p.m. where he had been a patient for three weeks He had been ill for six to nine months.

Mr. Horness was born on July 26, 1900 in Milford Township, south of Story City to Nels and Martha Horness, and had made his home in the Milford Township territory until a year ago when he moved to Roland.

Mr. Horness is survived by his wife Elizabeth, whom he married August 14, 1930 and to which union two sons and three daughters were born who also survive him. They are Charles, New Castle, Del.; Virgil Horness, stationed in Morrocco with the Navy; (Helen) Mrs. Frank Uballe of Grimes; (Hazel) Mrs. James Jessen, Stout, Ia.; (Maxine) Mrs. Gary Stratton, Cedar Falls.

Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Henry Childers, Roland, Mrs. Sigvalda Lee, Eldora and 12 grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents and three brothers.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. in Story City at the St. Petri Lutheran Church with Rev. Rhuben O. Aga officiating. Burial will take place at the cemetery at Roland.

Friends may call at the Soderstrum Funeral Home in Roland from Wednesday until time of services.
