DEATHS
DORETTA SUTTON
Funeral services for Doretta Sutton were held from the Cambridge Methodist Church on Tuesday, Dec. 29, at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Dale Ellsworth officiating.
Flowers were cared for by Mrs. George Edwards and Mrs. La Vona Cairns. Lester Moore sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "How Great Thou Art" accompanied on the organ by Mrs. Guy De Hoet. Pallbearers were Tom Berhow, Doug Brooks, Dean Robert, Curt Schwab, Milan Sinclair and Steven Wright.
Interment was in the Cambridge Cemetery.
Doretta Sutton, daughter of Charles and Mary Coffman, was born Sept. 6, 1891 near Sheldahl, Iowa and died in the Story County Hospital in Nevada on Dec. 26, 1970 at the age of 79 years, 3 months and 20 days.
She was united in marriage to Joseph Albert Sutton on Sept. 12, 1909. To this union nine children were born.
As a young girl, she joined the United Brethren Church, Hopkins Grove, near Madrid. She was an active member of the WSCS at Cambridge until time of failing health.
Preceding her in death were her parents, one brother, an infant son and her husband who died in 1958. She was the last of her immediate family.
Survivors are two sons, Murl of Nevada and Levi of Cambridge and six daughters, Evelyn, Mrs. Kenneth Pierce of Colfax, Bessie, Mrs. A. B. Groomes of Nevada, Pauline, Mrs. Ronald Taber of Roseville, Calif., Georgia, Mrs. Kahl Sesker, Marjorie, Mrs. David Birkestrand of Cambridge and Maxine, Mrs. Melvin Fogle of Citrus heights, Calif. Twenty-two grand children and eighteen great grandchildren also survive.
