O. E. Weeden, 81, Dies at Marshalltown
Otto E. Weeden, former manager of the Story Hotel, died Tuesday evening at 8:00 P. M. at the Evangelical Deaconess Hospital in Marshalltown at the age of 81, where he had been a patient since January 15.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A. M. Saturday at the Avey Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Burial will be at the Riverside Cemetery in Marshalltown.
Mr. Weeden was born in Sweden, October 2, 1872, and came to this country, at Chicago at the age of 16. He married Alida C. Benson, September 18, 1902 at De Kalb, Illinois. In 1917 he went to Grinnell, Iowa, where he managed the Monroe Hotel until 1923. Mr. and Mrs. Weeden then went to Marshalltown to manage the Evans Hotel from 1923 to 1933, and in 1933 they came to Nevada and managed the Story Hotel until 1942 at which time he retired.
Mr. and Mrs. Weeden celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 1952. Mr. Weeden is survived by his wife and one son, Russell of Marshalltown; two daughters Mrs. H. E. Reinhold, of West Englewood, New Jersey and Mrs. Darrel Johnson of Clovis, New Mexico and seven grandchildren.
