Special to the Journal:
Huxley, Aug. 6--Funeral services for Alfred Harestad, who passed away early Sunday morning were held Wednesday afternoon, August 3, at the Fjeldberg church at two o'clock following a prayer service at the home at 1:30. The services were in charge of Dr. Andersen, who was assisted by Rev. Buland and Rev. H. E. Okland of Fertile, Iowa. The seating capacity of the church was taxed to the utmost and many had to remain standing throughout the services.
Dr. Andersen had scripture reading after which Mrs. C. R. Reng and Mrs. I. J. Hendricks sang "Does Jesus Care" with organ accompaniment by Ellen Legvold.
Dr. Andersen then delivered the sermon and based his text on Isaiah 55, part of the 6th verse "Seek Ye the Lord While He May Be Found." Mrs. Reng and Mrs. Hendricks than sang another duet "Jesus Lover of My Soul," after which Rev. Buland spoke words of comfort to the bereaved family and the large audience, who had come to pay their last respects to a departed friend.
Rev. Okland, a friend of the family who had come to attend the funeral, was called on and he spoke briefly on the text found in Mark 7 part of the 37th verse "He hath done all things well." Miss Gladys Rullestad sang a solo "At Dawning," which she sang at their wedding ten years ago.
The floral offerings were unusually large and the altar was banked with floral sprays which came from sympathizing friends far and near.
