Mrs. C. Peterson Funeral Services Held In Story C.

Funeral services were held for Mrs. Carrie Musland Peterson Saturday afternoon, October 6 at 2 p.m. in the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City with the Pastor Harold T. Masted officiating.

A prayer service was held in the chapel of the church preceding the service. Nrs, Ralph Richard, vocalist sang "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" and "Rock of Ages." Miss Louise Olson was organist. The text was from the book of Mathew 14:30.

Pallbearers were John Gildersleeve, Lawrence Jacobson, Joel Jacobson, Tom Eness and Eugene Eness. Burial was in the South St. Petri cemetery.

Life Sketch

Mrs. Carrie Olena Peterson, daughter of John and Engebor Musland was born near Gilbert, March 19, 1882. She died after a two months illness from a heart condition at her home in Story City on October 3 at the age of 80 years, six months and 13 days.

She was united in marriage to Peter O. Peterson on August 4, 1899 and resided on a farm near Gilbert until 1944 when they retired and moved to Story City.

Mrs. Peterson is survived by her seven children: Palmer, Emil and Lester of Route 1, Ames, Mrs. Ruth Russell of Ames, Mrs. Doris (Oliver) Malmanger of Des Moines, Mrs. Jeanette (Emmett) Carlson of Ames and Mrs. Alta (Edwin) Hauge of Story City.

Other survivors include 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Johnson of Compton, Calif.; Mrs. Isabel Kennedy of Altadena, Calif.; Mrs. Lena (Harold) Hutcheson of Lynwood, Calif. and a brother, Oliver Musland of Gardena, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her husband and one daughter, Leona, a granddaughter; her parents and two sisters. She was a member of the Gilbert Lutheran Church until moving to Story City when she transferred her membership to the Immanuel Lutheran Church.
