Funeral Rites Held Monday for Mrs. Zagar

Special to the Journal:
Slater, Sept. 29--Funeral services for Mrs. Tony Zagar were held Monday morning. The home was filled with beautiful floral offering which were brought by relatives and friends as a tribute of their respect and love. The services were held at the St. Malachip church at Madrid and were conducted by Father Poeckes. The church choir furnished special music.

The pallbearers were Tony Beverich, Vance Kovich, Vance Polich, Frank Grguvich, John Galetich and Steve Badnovich. Interment was made in the Glendale cemetery in Des Moines.

Mary Abromovish was born in Yugoslavia, Europe, March 25, 1900 and died at her home in Slater Sept. 23, 1938, at the age of 38 years, 5 months and 28 days. When she was six years old she came to America with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Abromovich and they made their home near Des Moines.

Her marriage to Tony Zagar took place in April, 1918. Three children blessed this union. They moved to Slater in 1925 and bought a home where they reside.

Mrs. Zagar was a quiet, unassuming woman, a devoted wife and loving mother. She won a large circle of friends in this community who will miss her pleasant companionship. Mrs. Zagar's illness did not seem serious till June when she was confined to her bed. Her daughter, Josephine, who was in nurses training at the Mercy hospital, came home and was with her constantly. Mr. Zagar is a member of the town council. The sympathy of the entire community goes out to the bereaved family.

Mrs. Zagar was preceded in death by her father. She is survived by her husband and three children Josephine, Rudolph and John also her mother, Mrs. Lewis Abromovich, and a sister, Frances, and three brothers Steve, John and Tony all of Des Moines.
